Hi everyone!
Welcome back to my blog!
I know… I know… it’s been a few weeks since I last posted, and this is a pretty new blog, but I promise I’ve been hunting and gathering the latest and cutest Hello Kitty merchandise to share with you all during the 2023 holiday season.
Hello Kitty core is definitely in fashion, especially at The Creme Shop. This is where I’ve found and collected the majority of my plush, spa headbands.
As a collector, it’s always hard when you’re shopping for something you’re so biased for, so you have to play “Do I want it? Do I need it? Is it worth it?” in your head all the time.
Fun fact about me: I don’t wash my hair every single day, and I have really long hair that I spend quite a lot of time caring for and styling. Water and humidity exposure will ruin all that hard work by making my hair frizz and break, so a headband is an essential part of my daily shower and makeup routine to keep that hair tucked and far away from water. These headbands are relatively inexpensive and good quality, and you can get at least 2 years’ worth of use out of them.
So, when it comes to a Hello Kitty/Sanrio headband, do I want it? Yes.
Do I need it? Yes!
Is it worth it? Yes!
In this blog post, I’m going to show you and rank my favorite headband and hair accessories that I’ve collected in the past year. Honestly, they’re all plush, comfortable, and useful, but if I had to rank my favorites, it would be as follows:
#1: Hello Kitty Sparkle & Sleigh Plush Spa Headband – The Creme Shop (Limited Holiday Edition) ($14.00)

This is the newest addition to my collection (literally snatched it at Ulta 2 weeks ago), and it quickly became my favorite and most used headband.
When I saw it, my eyes immediately sparkled, and as I reached for it, one of the Ulta associates said, “OMG, you HAVE to get it. I got mine yesterday, and it is the cutest little thing I’ve seen this season.” The Ulta employees at my location rarely interact with me or other customers, so her validation erased any doubt in my mind about purchasing it.
Because I live at Ulta, I was lucky enough to get it for free thanks to the insane number of points I’ve racked up over the last year.
What I love about it:
The features: Usually, the Creme Shop’s HK spa headbands feature the character’s face or head in the stitching of the headband or as an attachment on the center or side of the band. This headband features HK’s signature white ears and bow. Not only can you use it for your shower routine but also as a last-minute simple HK cosplay accessory.
What makes this headband unique is that it also does feature HK’s full face as a sewn-on attachment on the back. That is a unique feature that I had not seen before on one of these headbands, so it definitely got points for that as well.
#2: My Melody 3D Teddy Headyband – The Creme Shop ($12.00)

I can’t remember right now because I have gone through a few of these headbands over the years, but I believe this is the oldest one in my collection that I purchased this year.
If you ask my roommates, they’ll tell you it’s their favorite headband because they love to bop My Melody’s 3D face when I have it on – it’s like a red button to them.
What I love about it:
Not only is it adorable, but it’s also surprisingly sturdy. I accidentally put it in the washer AND the dryer with the rest of my clothes, and it came out intact. It was just as soft and comfortable as when it came out of the box. It also does not budge at all. This headband came to do its job, but it’s in second place because I prefer the other’s design to this one.
I’m excited to see the Creme Shop (or other retailer!) make a headband similar to the one in first place with other iconic Sanrio characters, like My Melody and Kuromi.
Tip: I got this headband at Hot Topic, which usually carries Hello Kitty/Sanrio Creme Shop products in stores. So, if you’re not a fan of online shopping, I definitely recommend checking out your local Hot Topic, Ulta, or even Home Goods to see their physical stock.
#3: Hello Kitty Plush Spa Headband – The Creme Shop ($12.00)

This one is only #3 because it has a lot of trouble staying on my head. I was using it this morning, and it just slipped off mid-shower. I haven’t encountered this problem before with any of the other Creme Shop headbands I’ve used before.
Technical mishaps aside…
What I love about it:
The design: I’m a sucker for polka dots. They’re just so cute, and of course, I love anything with Hello Kitty’s iconic red apple shade. Hello Kitty’s face is stitched onto the bow, and the stitching of the Creme Shop’s registered trademark on the bow indicates that this headband was likely one of their earlier ones in the collection.
I also can’t find it online anywhere, except on reseller websites. I purchased mine a few months ago at Miniso, so it’s possible that it had already sold out on the original retailer’s website.
#4: Hello Kitty Goody Head Wraps (Limited Edition) ($17.99)

These three headbands are featured in the Hello Kitty Wet Brush collection. I received them in the mail today a few hours ago, so my impression on them is quite raw and fresh.
On Sunday night, I was shopping on Ulta, and I needed a new hairbrush anyways, as well as new headbands that I could use for working out. When I saw these, I figured I could hit two birds with one stone.
I am in love with the brush, its design, and its feel – it’s the Wet Brush we all know and love with a Hello Kitty design on the back paddle.
The headbands though… they’re cute. That’s it.
I think this collection was targeted at children because the headbands are quite small and narrow. I have a small to average sized head, and the headbands felt tight. The fabric itself feels like a combination of cotton and satin. I was also disappointed that out of the 3 headbands in the box, only two had Hello Kitty designs. The third one was a simple black headband.
Gift-Giving Guide – More Headbands Collections to Explore!
This collection is pretty small – there are many Hello Kitty/Sanrio headbands that I’ve seen in stores and online that I thought were cute but didn’t buy. Sometimes, they were out of stock, and other times, they just weren’t my style.
However, these headbands make a great (and cost effective) gift for your Hello Kitty loving friends or that Hello Kitty fanatic at work who you got for Secret Santa.
Here is the list of websites and stores where you can find more of these super adorable headbands:
- The Creme Shop (the leader of HK headbands – can also find other character headbands)
- Hot Topic
- Wet Brush hairbrushes
- Spa Headbands:
- Hobby Lobby and Home Goods (brick & mortar store only) – you can find last season headbands at a heavily discounted price.
- Amazon – they too feature last season and out of stock items – unfortunately, the prices have been highjacked because of the rarity of these items.
- Miniso (brick & mortar store only) – you can find last season headbands at the original price.
Which one is your favorite?
Will you be getting yourself (or someone else) a headband this season?
Let me know in the comments 🙂
Thanks for reading and happy shopping!
